Spider Sightings April 23, 2020 Spotted some spiders amongst the pitchers. They sometimes make a home in sarracenia. The pitchers offer free food and shelter. Why not? A spider lived in one of the bugbat pitchers for the whole summer last year. Alas, he died by fall, RIP Rest in Pitcher. A spider tried to colonize the S. “Abandoned Hope” pitcher. I didn’t spot the spider, but several dead and one live ant are suspended in the web above zone 3. The live one managed to escape the web only to fall into the depths of the pitcher. His situation has not improved.
I also spotted webs inside of a newly opened S. catesbae purpurea flava. I didn’t see a spider, but there was plenty of web
I also spotted a spider living inside of a old, dead S. Yellow Jacket pitcher. He doesn’t seem happy to see the pencam.
