April 5, 2020
The S. Leucophylla has produced a bunch of early season pitchers (Leucophylla typically produce more pitchers in the fall) The first video is of the tallest new S. Leucophylla. Spotted a few mites on the lip of the pitcher. Also a few mites deep in the pitcher as poorly resolved blobs.
April 12 Another S. Leucophylla has opened and the mites are here. But they are not alone. A honeybee has taken a wrong turn and has been trapped. It makes a valiant attempt to fly to safety, but it can't make it out of the slippery zone.
I don't normally see prey trapped this early.
