Giant Roach in Giant Pitcher Leucophylla

Dec 25 2018

It's always a surprise to look inside a pitcher plant and see a giant roach looking back at you.

One of the S. Leucophylla caught a big one. (I hope “it's the one that got away” from the S. Bugbat on Dec 17 2018 You can be sure I won’t bonk him with the pencam. I’m not throwing him a lifeline)

My, what large antenna you have

Note you can see the pencam lights reflected off the roaches head

Another video, but in natural light. (Pencam lights are off)

The roach is dead by Dec 28.

By Jan 1 2019, new prey (flies) are trapped on top of the dead roach.

You can see blobs roaming around the dead roach.

Jan 5 Note the flies have stomped down the antenna

More flies on top of the giant roach.
